Hello March! Winter is winding down and spring is in first bloom.  Green is everywhere with the celebration of St. Patrick’s Day coming up on Saturday, March 17.  To celebrate we’re going green with some fun facts about Peppermint essential oil and sharing a great recipe for a Peppermint Sugar Scrub to help you relax, unwind, and exfoliate your skin in style!

With its cheery and fresh aroma, peppermint essential oil is a popular oil, and just like lavender, it’s one of the most versatile with many benefits and uses for the mind, body, and soul.

Benefits of Peppermint Essential Oil

– Relieve and reduce headaches
– Freshens bad breath
– Improves mental focus and clarity
– Unclog sinuses and relieve scratchy throats
– Soothes achy muscles and provides pain relief

So as you can see, Peppermint essential oil is truly an incredible oil with many health benefits.  Keep a bottle in your home or in your purse.  You never know when it can come in handy!

And in light of St. Patrick’s Day coming up, here’s our recipe for some homemade Peppermint Sugar Scrub.  Not only will this minty scrub revitalize and freshen up your mood, it will help moisturize and exfoliate your skin.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

Ingredients & Instructions

1 – 1-1/2 Cups granulated sugar
1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
9 – 12 drops Peppermint Essential Oil
Green Food Coloring (For the Paddy Day Spirit!)

1) In a large mixing bowl, stir together sugar and oil until combined.
2) Add Peppermint oil
3) Add green food coloring (to your liking until you reach desired color)
4) Mix together until well combined.
5 ) Scoop and store in glass jar or other container.

When ready to use, rub and massage onto damp hands, feet, knees, and elbows.  Let set and then rinse thoroughly for soft, smooth and minty fresh skin!
